An introduction to iPod features

The iPod portable music player is one of the best accessories you can buy for your Macintosh. Check out these tips to maximize the use of your iPod.

To switch the iPod on:

  • Press any button

To switch the iPod off:

  • Press and hold the play button for several seconds

To temporarily disable the iPod buttons (to prevent accidentally switching on/off or changing settings):

  • Slide the hold switch at the top of the iPod to Hold

To switch the iPod’s backlight on or off:

  • Press and hold the Menu button for several seconds

To import addresses and phone numbers into the iPod:

  • Connect iPod and open your email or contacts application (Mac OS X
  • Address Book, Palm Desktop, Microsoft Entourage, etc.).

  • Drag the contacts from the application’s address book to the iPod’s Contacts folder
  • Unmount and disconnect your iPod
  • To view your contacts, from the Main Menu select Extras – Contacts

To import calendar events into the iPod:

  • Export calendar events to the Calendar folder on your iPod
  • To view your calendar events, from the Main Menu select Extras – Calendar
